Another Book Character...

Hey Guys,

I've been seriously going crazy with all these books I've been reading. Here's another character from I book I decided to draw. Enjoy!
I apologize for the fire... I'm still learning how to draw it.

My 100th Post!

Hi Guys,

So today is my 100th post on Skiddish Art! =D
There's nothing really spectacular that I have for you (you'll have to wait for my 1 year anniversary for that) but I do have this inked drawing of a past QSoD.
This is the first time I've used this technique and I actually really like it. There are a few things I could improve on, though. But I will be using it in future drawings. Enjoy!
And for my QSoD I have this five minute sketch:
Then I have another drawing that I sketched out today (which I could show you) but I'm going to wait to reveal it until I color it. =)

I Have Been DECEIVED!!

Hi Guys,

So when I turned thirteen in December I got a Facebook account for Skiddish Art and a Youtube account as well. However I was holding off on a Deviant Art account because my brother told me the required age was fourteen. Well I was on Deviant Art today I was reading the Terms of Service and what not when I just had the desire to Google how old you have to be. Well... it turns out you can join when you're thirteen years old! My brother didn't lie to me though, hehe. I'm pretty sure the age requirement just changed since then. =)
Here's the profile pic I'm using for my account.
It doesn't look totally like me... but it will make do. One day I really have to show you guys a picture of myself. =)

By the way, feel free to visit my DA page. It's: KassieC.deviantart.com

Quick Sketch of the Day

Hi Guys,

I drew this about a day or two ago but I was going to wait to post it until I inked and colored it. But I figured: my 'ink and color' list is piled up so high, it would be nice (for my 100th post) to ink and color everything I've promised in the past. So for now, enjoy this sketch.
By the way, sorry it may look a bit faded but I drew this with paper and pencil then scanned it in. =)

Quick Sketch of the Day

Hi Guys,

So I want to start doing some tutorials since I have a youtube account so I was practicing on drawing and talking and stopping to explain myself. I was just going to scrap this one (since it was just for practice) but I figured I might as well touch it up a little bit and sign it. Here you go! =)

Quick Sketch of the Day

Hi Guys,

Here's my QSoD for today. While I was drawing him I was like "This is totally the guy from The Princess Bride!" I haven't watched that movie in a while but I should.
Enjoy! :)

Quick Sketch of the Day

Hi Guys,

Sorry about today's QSoD being drawn in such haste. It's a bit sloppy but for the most part it's okay. It was a busy day for me and I've still got one more thing to do today. Maybe I'll do something special for tomorrow's QSoD. Enjoy! =D

Quick Sketch of the Day

Hi Guys,

Today's QSoD is really weird. It's my own personal take on a character from Brian Jacques' Redwall. It's kind of silly (and I didn't even intentionally start off with a mouse) but it just kind of happened. Sorry if he resembles a rat a little more than a mouse. I don't typically practice drawing humanoid mice...
Enjoy! =]

I Missed a Day...

Hi Guys,

So if you're familiar with this blog, you'll know that I posted a "quick sketch of the day" everyday and I had been doing that for 90 days straight. But yesterday I didn't post one and it's all the fault of McDonald's... K, so let me explain what happened:
Yesterday my whole family and I took a three hour drive to Boston, MA for a program called "Splash" they host every year at MIT. My brother was taking a few classes on various things (and each class was hours long) so we were there for a while. We were up by 6:00 AM and left by 7:30 and arrived at around 11:00. However, I knew we would be there for most of the day so the day before I drew a couple pictures so that when I got home I could upload them quickly and go to bed. After my brother was done with all his classes it was about 7ish at night and we hadn't eaten since the morning. So we kind of unanimously voted for McDonald's. The problem was we didn't know our way around Boston. We probably searched for half an hour (found an IHOP and the world's only Curious George store) but never saw a McDonald's . By that time we were hopelessly lost (since we wandered so far away from the university) and it took us 'till around 9:00 PM before we finally made our way back to the correct road. By that time I knew it was kind of hopeless because it would be a three hour drive home which would take me to 12:00 AM so we found a McDonalds off the side of the highway. It took them about 10 minutes before we actually got our food since everybody working there was half asleep and fumbling around. By the time we got back home it was 12:30. On any other occasion I would probably have gotten seriously upset and wouldn't be able to sleep but at that point I was so tired I thought about it once, sighed, then welcomed my warm and cozy bed.
The saddest part is I had my drawings done already but I just didn't make it back in time to upload them... My perfect record was marred that day all because of a stupid fast food chain. And to make matters worse once I got my food I didn't even like it. The people working there were nice enough to give us a huge supply of fries because we had to wait (and I hope they gave the guy waiting behind us got his food for free) but it tasted like they dumped the entire bucket of salt on them so I didn't even eat mine. But my brother had find so it was worth it. Plus, I got to take a picture with a giant beaver (mascot) which I'll probably draw a cartoon version of and post on here some day.
All things considered, it's okay that I missed a day. This doesn't directly effect the charity for my aunt so it comes without consequence but it still makes me feel like I failed... oh well. =/

Here are my QSoD's:

Quick Sketch of the Day

Hi Guys,

So my QSoD is colored and inked today. I'm pretty happy with this because the length that it used to take me to do my sketches it takes me to ink and color it. Which means it will take even less time for me to finish your commissions *wink wink* =D
But seriously guys, it would mean so much if you did consider ordering a commissions. The money goes towards getting my quadriplegic aunt that van which makes my family happy and you get a drawing of anything you want so you're happy!

Archie's QSoD

Hi Guys,

So today, for my QSoD, I drew Archie (from the Archie comics/Archie's Weird Mysteries) in my own style. It's dedicated to my mumzy who loves the Archie comics. =)
By the way: I'll be posting a speedpaint to go along with it so look out for it on the video page.

Quick Sketch of the Day

Hi Guys,

Here's my QSoD. Sorry I didn't shade it but I have other plans for it.
By the way, if you're not familiar with the TV show, the coloring was heavily inspired by the TV show 'Cyberchase'. It was one of those educational PBS shows for kids that I used to watch when I was a little bit younger. Enjoy!

Quick Sketch of the Day

Hi Guys,

So here's my QSoD. It's nothing special because right now I'm pretty tired. I thought I was sick yesterday... nope. I'm sick now. So I figured since it was just a plain sketch I should at least color it in for you guys (which I did) so enjoy! =)

(Old) Quick Sketch Colored

Hi Guys,

I drew a QSoD a while back this month and I decided to just color it today. I came back from a children's book fair because there was a little side event where we had lunch with four authors then they did a panel so I'm tired now at the end of the day (and on top of that I'm sick). But I was happy to be there and speak to one of the authors of The 39 Clues (I did past drawings from that) and I got to see Maria from Sesame Street! She was there also promoting her book and it was really cool to see her. I didn't recognize her at first but my mom told me who she was when she saw her so I was like "Woah! You're right!! That's Maria!".
My brother and I go to a lot of these types of things so we're always getting cool opportunities to meet different people. A few years ago at a college close to where we live they were having an interview with Jane Goodall and I remember bringing my third grade school book (it had a little section about her) for her to sign it. It was a great experience. Then another time there was another author promoting her book (one that my mom was a fan of). Though it's a real privilege to be able to have so many events on writing in my area (since my brother and I love writing) today a thought came to mind. It would be so cool if we could have more things like this but for art. I really only remember having about two art events in my area (and they were very small things done at the local library). I'm hoping that one day when I advance a little bit more in my art and get a little bit older I can have my own art events. I'd really love to just take a moment to talk to kids like me about the beauty, diversity, and my own personal love of art. And I'm pretty sure I'd get at least a few people to come. Perhaps if I ever do that I can video tape the courses and share it with you guys!

Until then, enjoy my QSoDs and please help me out with this charity! =)

Yesterday's QSoD Colored

Hi Guys,

So if you had a chance to read yesterday's post you'll know I didn't talk about that sketch much because I was going to be late for something. But anyways, I colored it today and I'll explain what it's about.

Okay, so the name of the picture is called Adam's Sin a.k.a If Only (I couldn't really choose between the two. The main motive of the drawing is just about regret in general. The younger version of Adam is right when he was cast out from the Garden of Eden. Then the faded version is his older self just before his death. He's looking back at his life and thinking: "If only I didn't do that...". However the picture to you could mean anything else. It could mean "If only I did that" or "If only I stayed", etc., etc.
I always loved doing these types of drawings that made you think about yourself and not just the person in the drawing. I think that's the best type of drawing.

I hope you enjoyed this! =)

Quick Sketch of the Day

Hi Guys,

Here's an original (kinda) character. (In case you're not familiar with this) a lot of people draw their own characters from the Avatar: The Last Airbender (or Legend of Korra) universe. So my character's name is Pak. I typically don't elaborate much on o.c.'s I draw based off of TV shows or books but for this one I will.

Pak is seventeen years old. He was born in Omashu but later moved to Ba Sing Se when he was five (because of the invasion of the Fire Nation). Pak took a liking to Ba Sing Se however was forced to move again to Gaoling when he was ten because his father was hired as a blacksmith for a high salary. When he turned thirteen his father agreed to enroll him in an earth bending school (he discovered his ability at the age of nine) and later met Master Yu. Master Yu's other students were less than friendly to Pak but he had the will power to bare through it and advance to the top of Master Yu's class. However, as Pak progressed in Yu's teaching he realized Yu wasn't teaching him what he was capable of learning. So when Pak turned sixteen (the legal age in the Earth Kingdom to separate from your parents) he journeyed on his quest to seek out true earth bending.

I know I know. It's a "been there, done that" plot (and you might not understand it all if you haven't seen seasons 1-2 of Avatar) but I wrote it in a two minutes without even giving it much thought so if you can't look past all that than at least enjoy the drawing.
A colored version is soon to come! =)

Quick Sketch of the Day

Hi Guys,

For today's QSoD I drew my own interpretation of Charlie Beckendorf (A character from a book I'm reading).

*SPOILERS! BEWARE!*
I just finished reading the chapter where he dies (T_T) so I ended up drawing this.
*END OF SPOILERS!*

I noticed not a lot of people draw the secondary characters (which is  a shame since Rick Riordan (the author of the book) developed them so well) so I did this one for Beckendorf. In the future I'm, going to draw more characters and post them for you guys to see!

By the way, I apologize for the background being plain white. I fiddled around with a number of backgrounds but none seemed to fit so well so I ended up just leaving it as is. But when I do more characters I'll give them some backgrounds.

Quick Sketch of the Day

Hi guys,

My QSoD is of a boy playing baseball. Enjoy!

By the way, sorry it took me so long to upload this. I was doodling around a lot today. While I was talking on the phone with a friend I spent about half an hour playing around with the symmetry tools. Here's what I doodled:
Neat, huh? I love the symmetry tool. All I did was literally scribbled and I got this. =D

Quick Sketch of the Day

Hi Guys,

So today's QSoD was just a five minute (maybe less) doodle. He's Erickson: Kid Detective.... *Sigh* just another lame character idea floating around in my head. Maybe one of these days I'll actually do something with one of my O.C.'s.
For now, enjoy!
By the way, he's not smoking a pipe. He's blowing bubbles through it (something inspired by an old Jimmy Neutron episode). =)
